Marauders Swept on Day Two of PSAC Crossover Play

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Lock Haven, Pa. - The Millersville women's volleyball team was swept on day two of PSAC crossover action. The Marauders were defeated in straight sets by Mercyhurst and fell in four to Gannon.

Mercyhurst (14-8, 8-4 PSAC) posted a scalding hitting percentage of .264 against Millersville (9-12, 5-8 PSAC) and swept the match with set scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-21. Gannon (14-8, 9-4 PSAC) then defeated Millersville 19-25, 25-22, 23-25, 28-30 and has won the past six meetings with the Marauders.

Millersville managed to hit a mere .111 in the first set with eight kills and five errors on 27 attack chances. Mercyhurst's offense was clicking with a hitting percentage of .444 in the first set. The Lakers' attack didn't commit a single error to go with 12 kills on 27 total attacks. Mercyhurst took the set by a score of 25-18.

The Lakers sent home 13 kills against four errors in the second set. The Marauders matched their first set effort hitting .111 with 10 kills and five errors on 45 total attacks. Mercyhurst went up 2-0 with a 25-23 set victory.

The Black and Gold hit a meager .108 in the third set with nine kills and five errors on 37 attack chances. The Lakers answered that with a attacking percentage of .216 and tallied 12 kills to four errors on 37 total attacks. Mercyhurst won the set 25-21 and the match three sets to none.

Sydney Gallagher and Mary Paul led the offense with six kills apiece. Jessica Franz aided the attack with 12 assists and Erika Smith added 11 helpers. On defense, Brooklyn Smith tallied 25 digs and Rebecca Roman was a force above the net with five blocks.

Gannon posted a hitting percentage of .303 in the first set to just .138 by Millersville. The Golden Knights sent home 14 kills and committed only four errors on 33 attack chances. The Marauders tallied nine kills and five errors on 29 total attacks. Gannon won the set 25-19.

Millersville erased its memory of the first set in a hurry with a sizzling hitting percentage of .500 in the second. The Marauders registered 13 kills with a lone error on 24 attack chances. On the other side, the Golden Knights accumulated 13 kills and only two errors on 26 total attacks to hit .423. Millersville came out on top in the highly-competitive set, 25-22.

The Marauders followed by racking up 13 kills to six errors on 45 attack chances to hit .156 on the set. Gannon matched that effort with a .163 hitting percentage to go with 13 kills and five errors on 49 total attacks. The Golden Knights earned the set win with a 25-23 decision.

Gannon's offense was too much in the fourth set as it hit .360, didn't commit a single error, and landed 18 kills on 50 attack chances. Millersville recorded 15 kills and four errors on 53 total attacks but the Golden Knights took the set 30-28 and the match three sets to one.

Rebecca Roman led the offense with 15 kills and an attacking percentage of .344. Jessica Franz piled up 24 assists and Erika Smith added 16. Brooklyn Smith collected 25 digs and Katie Lesinski added two blocks above the net.

The Marauders return to Pucillo for a three-game homestand beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 22 against Philadelphia at 7 p.m.
