THE STARTING FIVE
(1) Millersville sits at 7-2 (4-1 PSAC) heading into this weekend's PSAC crossover pair of games against Slippery Rock Friday and Edinboro on Saturday. The Marauders split their pair of games in the Bellarmine Tournament over the holiday break, dropping the first game of the tourney to host Bellarmine by a score of 73-66 before topping Missouri S&T on the second day, 78-61. The Marauders had never played either opponent prior to entering the holiday break's tournament in Louisville, Ky.

(2) For her play in the tournament, senior forward/center Aurielle Mosley was named to the Bellarmine Tournament All-Tournament Team. The York native led the Marauders by tying a career-high with 29 points against the Miners to give Millersville its seventh win of the season. During the two games, Mosley totaled 36 points, 13 rebounds, five blocks and three steals. Heading into the Bellarmine Tournament, she was named the PSAC East Player of the Week after the Marauders split their last PSAC crossover against Gannon and Mercyhurst. It was her second such award of the young season.

(3) Another big contributor to the Marauders' success so far in 2012-13 has been senior point guard Mashira Newman. The Upper Dublin High School product could have easily been named to the All-Tournament Team herself, as she played 69 minutes over the two games and chipped in 28 total points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists and six steals. The 13 assists in the two games give her 41 for the season and 409 for her career. With her final assist in the Missouri S&T game, she passed current Millersville athletic director Peg Kauffman (408) to move into sole possession of sixth place on the all-time assists in a career list.

(4) The success of Millersville's leading tandem is and has been well noted all season long, but the depth of the Marauder lineup and rotation cannot go unnoticed. Noting this group can start with unheralded senior forward Miesha Cousins, who is the top offensive rebounder on the team with 3.9 per game, giving the Marauders nearly four second chances each contest. Junior guard Senada Mehmedovic has hit a 3-pointer in every single game, sophomore guard Carly Gallagher is second on the team in scoring at a 13.6 point per game pace, and freshman Celeste Robinson has made an immediate impact on the lineup, leading the team in field goal percentage, shooting at a 52.1 percent clip from her guard spot.

(5) Millersville-Slippery Rock pits two teams going in opposite directions. The Rock is just 2-7 (1-4 PSAC), and Friday's visitors to Pucillo Gymnasium are seventh in the PSAC West standings, while the Marauders stake claim to the top spot in the Eastern Division. As different as Millersville's first matchup is, the Marauders and Fighting Scots are mirrors of each other, as both teams enter this weekend's crossover games with identical records. Edinboro is tied for second in the West, and both teams find themselves on the cusp of the NCAA's Top 25. Millersville has received 29 votes and is seven spots away from cracking the Top 25. Edinboro is five spots below the Marauders and has gotten 11 votes. The winner of Saturday's game could make a claim to jump into the NCAA Division II Top 25.

ABOUT SLIPPERY ROCK
· Slippery Rock, which hasn't beaten Millersville in its past four times and only once in the past nine overall meetings between the schools, carries a 2-7 (1-4 PSAC) record into Friday's showdown. The Rock had a six game slide earlier this season and its only conference win came at home against winless Cheyney. Slippery Rock is seventh place in the PSAC West and lost its only game over the holiday break to Lourdes University by a 68-60 margin. The Rock is getting outscored by 14.4 points per game this season and has just one player, Alexas Brown, averaging double figures, but does have three players with 9.3 points per game or more. With the three players at nine or more points, the offensive catalyst is still Brown, who averages 16.0 points per game in wins and 10.3 in defeats so far this season. Subpar shooting percentages have also played a part in The Rock's struggles through its first nine games, and a slash line of .340/.225/.585 as a team is not conducive to success. The most telling of all shooting percentages is the final one - the free throw percentage. Slippery Rock's struggles at the line are giving points away, especially considering that the team takes more trips to the line (193-162) than its opponents.

ABOUT EDINBORO
· The Fighting Scots rolled into 2012-13 as back-to-back PSAC Champions, boasting a two-year record of 56-6 while qualifying for the NCAA Tournament two straight times. This current season has been no exception to Edinboro's recent success, as it holds the same record as Millersville entering the weekend crossover at 7-2 (4-1 PSAC). The recent success can be largely attributed to the steady hand of longtime head coach Stan Swank, who has split 14 career meetings with Mary Fleig since both have taken the helms of their respective schools. The Fighting Scots are currently on a three-game win streak, and play Shippensburg Friday before visiting Pucillo Gymnasium Saturday. Edinboro's offensive prowess (first in PSAC in scoring offense at 78.3 points per game) is more top-heavy than balanced, as the Fighting Scots have the top two scorers in the confrerence. Samantha Blazetic averages a PSAC-best 17.2 points per game as a dominant post presence, adding 8.9 rebounds per game. Behind Blazetic is the league's second-leading scorer, Kiara Brown, who provides a threat on the perimeter at 15.6 points per game and has knocked down 13 triples in 2012-13. Brown can also play facilitator, posting 3.1 assists per game, good for second on the team to Darche' Jackson's 4.1 per game rate.
