Box Score Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville field hockey team traveled to PSAC West leader and No. 2-ranked Shippensburg and lost a closely contested game 2-0 Saturday afternoon.
It was the second road game in consecutive days for the Marauders, who won at Mansfield on Friday. But Taylor Bender put Shippensburg up early with a goal assisted from Ari Saytar with 27:25 into the first period. Just after half time Bre White added some insurance by putting in another goal 54:59 into the game.
Ciarra Delost saved three shots at net for Shippensburg while
Lauren Sotzin saved four for the Marauders.
Rachel Dickinson led Millersville with two shots on goal. Millersville's best opportunity to score came midway through the first half when Dickinson and
Paige Morrison fired shots off of a penalty corner, but both were turned away by Delost.
Shippensburg outshot the Marauders 12-6, and took 10 penalty corners to Millersville's seven. The loss is the second on the season to Shippensburg, which beat them at Chryst Field 2-1 early in September.
Millersville's record after the loss is 7-5 while Shippensburg improved to 11-1. The Marauders look to rebound against East Stroudsburg at home on Oct. 3 in a PSAC East matchup.
