Hilton Head, S.C. - The Millersville men's tennis team suffered a 7-2 defeat to Winston-Salem State Wednesday in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Marauders received singles wins from freshman Jody Sambrick, Jr. and Tucker Mertz. Playing at No. 3 singles, Sambrick defeated Nick John by a 6-4, 6-4 score. Mertz topped Chris Jeter 8-5 in a one-set match in the No. 5 spot.
With the win, Sambrick continued a fast start to his Marauder career, improving to 3-1.
The No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches were both closely contested but Millersville lost both by a 9-8 score.
Millersville takes on Connecticut College Thursday in Hilton Head.
