Volleyball Clinches Playoff Spot Despite Loss to Lock Haven

Lock Haven, Pa. - Millersville could not repeat its upset of Lock Haven this time around, falling 3-1 on the road. But the Marauders received a little help in the form of Shippensburg's win over East Stroudsburg, which clinched Millersville's first PSAC Tournament berth since 2005.

Millersville (13-16, 6-11 PSAC) is guaranteed a spot in the PSAC East's top four but will play for seeding in its final two matches. On Friday, the Marauders travel to West Chester for a match that has major seeding implications. West Chester currently holds a one-match lead for the No. 3 seed, but Millersville can overtake the Golden Rams with wins over West Chester and Cheyney in its final two matches.

Lock Haven (22-9, 14-3 PSAC), which has already locked up the PSAC East's top seed, held off a scrappy Millersville squad Saturday. The Marauders gave Lock Haven a fight in each set and even took the second. The final set scores were 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 25-23.

Katie Lesinski totaled a team-high 14 kills, and Samantha Agostini added nine. Taylor Smith produced an efficient six kills with one error, three service aces and 12 digs. Four different Marauders totaled double-digit digs. Brooklyn Smith led the team with 15. Jessica Franz recorded 33 assists and 10 digs for her ninth double-double of the season.

Four Lock Haven players tallied double-digit kills with Gao Xuan totaling a match-high 18 while committing just five errors on 37 swings. Alexa Garrity totaled 49 assists.

Lock Haven hit .262 as a team while Millersville hit .219.

Friday's match at West Chester is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
