Marauders Cruise Past Cheyney in Sweep

Box Score Millersville, Pa. – Since 1990, Millersville and Cheyney had met 32 times and the Marauders had never lost a set. Millersville made sure that streak stayed intact Friday night with a 3-0 drubbing of the Wolves on its home floor.
 
Cheyney (0-22, 0-13 PSAC East) was never close in the match, as the Marauders (10-13, 4-8 PSAC East) rolled to set victories of 25-3, 25-7 and 25-10, respectively. Katie Lesinski played lights-out, finishing on eight of nine kill attempts and committing no errors to hit a stellar .889 on the night, as she led Millersville in both departments. The Marauders came flying out of the gates, hitting .708 as a team and never let up. For the match, Millersville hit .589 as a team.
 
Jessica Franz added to her magnificent play on the season, assisting on 23 of Millersville's 75 points. In total, the Marauders passed the ball well enough to register 34 assists as a team, while committing just five total hitting errors as a team. Franz and Taylor Smith shared the team lead with five service aces.
 
Defensively, Brooklyn Smith and Sue Caramanico had four digs apiece to pace the Marauders, and Samantha Booth blocked five total kill attempts to give her the team lead and a season- and career-high, and the team had eight total blocks to stifle the Wolves attack into -.205 hitting and forced Cheyney into 13 errors against just five kills in three sets.
 
Millersville can take tonight to enjoy its fourth PSAC East win of the year and third-straight, but has to get right back to work tomorrow in a critical showdown with West Chester. The Marauders lead the Golden Rams by one match for the fourth and final PSAC Tournament spot in the PSAC East. Saturday's action at Pucillo Gymnasium begins at 1 p.m.
