
No. 1 Bloomsburg Uses Second Half Surge to Defeat No. 8 Marauders

Bloomsburg, Pa. – The No. 8 Millersville Marauders traveled to Bloomsburg for a pivotal PSAC East clash against the No. 1 Huskies Wednesday. Bloomsburg scored three goals in the second half and shut out the Marauders by a score of 4-0.
Millersville (4-3, 0-2 PSAC East) did not register a shot until the 62nd minute of play. The Marauders were only able to record two shots--one on goal--the entire contest.
The Huskies (7-0, 2-0 PSAC East), who finished runner-up at the NCAA Division II Championship a season ago, controlled the game from the start. Bloomsburg outshot Millersville by a 13-2 margin with 10 shots on goal.
The Marauders' goalkeeper Sarah Dickinson made six saves--five in the second half--to keep Millersville in the game heading into the break down, 1-0.
Bloomsburg extended its lead in the 49th minute to 2-0. The Huskies scored two more goals in less than a minute to push their lead to 4-0 for the eventual final score. Seven Bloomsburg players recorded at least a point. Brooke Simonovich led the Huskies with three points on a goal and an assist.
Millersville gets a chance at redemption on Tuesday, Oct. 11 when the Huskies travel to Biemsderfer Stadium for a 4 p.m. start time.
The Marauders return home this Saturday, Sept. 24 to host the No. 2 West Chester Golden Rams. The game between the Marauders and Golden Rams is a Subway Game of the Week. Fans have a chance to win free subs from the Millersville Subway at halftime. The game is slated for 1 p.m.
