Millersville Tripped Up in Doubleheader at Edinboro

Edinboro, Pa. – The Millersville women's volleyball team's weekend trip to the western side of the state started out on positive note. However the second day of the two-day trip did not go as well. The Marauders lost both ends of a doubleheader, falling first to Edinboro, 3-1 and then to Gannon, 3-0.

Dropping both matches put Millersville at 5-8 (1-2 PSAC) on the season. The Marauders' loss to Edinboro came in four sets with scores of 25-12, 19-25, 25-18 and 25-15. The Scots had five players with eight or more kills while posting a team attack percentage of .275 and holding Millersville to a .069.

Top performers for the Marauders were Alyssa Ott, who posted three kills, a .500 attack percentage and four block-assists, and Jess Franz, adding 15 assists and nine digs. Rebecca Roman added four kills, three block assists and three digs.

In the Gannon match, Millersville suffered losses of 25-15, 25-15 and 25-19. Franz notched three kills with an attack percentage of .250, while Paul and Katie Lesinski tied for a team-high with four kills. Roman and Allison Huss led the team on the defensive end with two blocks each.

The back end of today's doubleheader marked the end of an eight-match road stretch for Millersville. The team returns home on Tuesday to face Franklin & Marshall College at 7 p.m. at Pucillo Gymnasium.
