Millersville Downed By Rams

Shepherdstown, W.Va. – Road matches have not been kind to the Marauders this season. Millersville fell to 0-5 on the road and 4-6 overall following a loss to Shepherd in tonight's match. The Rams recovered from a loss in the first game to triumph over Millersville 3-1 in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

The Marauders came out swinging and took down the Rams 25-21 in the first game of the match. After Millersville's strong start, it was all Shepherd the rest of the way. The Rams took the next three games 25-15, 25-21, 25-22. Defense was the key in the Rams win. They were able to hold Millersville's offensive attack to a .101 attack percentage.

Katie Lesinski, Millersville's outstanding freshman, led Marauders with 22 digs and tallied seven kills on 28 swings. Allison Huss had a team-high eight kills, but only finished with a .097 attack percentage as the Marauders offense could not get going.

The Rams' attack was led Lauren Gardner, who had a match-high 16 kills. Sarah Michael was spreading the ball around to her Shepherd teammates, logging 30 assists. The team had a .226 attack percentage on the offensive end and blocked nine shots on defense, compared to only two blocks for the Marauders.

Millersville will get back in action this weekend in the first of two separate PSAC Crossovers this season. They will play at Edinboro University at 5 p.m. against Mercyhurst College in their second PSAC match of the season.
