Lock Haven, Pa. – Going into the final match of the season, the Millersville women's volleyball team seeks its first .500 record since the 2004 season. The Marauders could have had their first winning season since 1999, but needed a win over Lock Haven Friday night. The Marauders, however, fell to the homestanding Bald Eagles in straight sets to drop their record to 17-18 (6-12 PSAC East).
Lock Haven got off to a fast start, winning the first set 25-8. In the second set, the Marauders rallied but fell by a slim 25-22 margin. The Bald Eagles took the third set to clinch the victory by a score of 25-14.
Brittany Lease and Katie Lesinski tied for the lead in kills on the offensive end with five and Katie Pisano set up the Millersville attack to the tune of seven assists. Lease hit .273 for the match and Pisano added six digs to lead the team in that category.
Entering the match, Allison Huss needed 15 kills to knock down 1,000 for her career. Huss finished with three kills and three digs. She plays the last match of her career Saturday against East Stroudsburg needing 12 more kills to hit the mark. Hitting that milestone would make Huss just the second Marauder in school history to register 1,000 career kills and digs.
The match against East Stroudsburg tomorrow is the season finale. Match time is slated for 2 p.m.
