
Gwynedd-Mercy Hands Women's Tennis First Loss

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - Gwynedd-Mercy improved to a perfect 9-0 and handed the Millersville women's tennis team its first loss of the 2011 season by a 6-2 score Thursday afternoon.
Millersville (1-1) recieved a singles win in the No. 4 flight from Kelsey Waite, and Waite also teamed with Elizabeth Wagner for the team's doubles victory. Waite won her singles match over Caroline Lockwood by a 6-3, 6-3 score. Waite and Wagner, the No. 2 doubles team, defeated Gabby Muller and Taylor Michener, 9-7.
All of the matches were closely contested. At No. 5 singles, Wagner was edged 7-5, 10-6 by Chelsea Jones. Rachel Fein squeaked past #Melissa Plowman in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 10-5.
Millersville hosts Indiana (Pa.) in its home opener Friday at 12 p.m. It also plays at home versus Clarion on Saturday at 9 a.m.
