Huss Helps Marauders to Shut Out of Philadelphia

Box Score

Millersville, Pa. – After hosting a PSAC Crossover this weekend on Friday and Saturday where the Marauders went 1-3, the team had a quick turnaround with an 11-7 Philadelphia team coming to Pucillo Gymnasium Wednesday night. Millersville bounced back from the tough weekend with a 3-0 win over the Rams.

Wednesday night's match marked the fifth time this season that the Marauders took care of a team in straight sets. They hadn't done it, however, since the Marauder Clash on opening weekend. Home matches have been Millersville's strong suit this season as the Marauders are now 9-4 at Pucillo Gymnasium after tonight's win and improved their overall record to 10-13.

Millersville took the first set by their widest margin of the night, 25-14. The Rams seemed to wake up in the second set, but it was too little, too late, as the Marauders won set two by a 25-23 score. Millersville put Philadelphia away for the match with a 10-point victory in the third set, 25-15.

Allison Huss powered the Marauders attack in this match, killing a season-high 13 attacks with an attack percentage of .323 on 31 swings. The 13 kills were part of a double-double for Huss, who played excellent defense as well, posting 18 digs and three block assists.

Huss was not the only one inflicting damage on a Rams team that came into the match allowing opponents to hit just .128 this season. Mary Paul chipped in with nine kills on .300 hitting and four total blocks (one solo), while Alyssa Ott had seven kills, hitting .333. Also posting a double-double for Millersville was Katie Pisano, who assisted on 36 kills and dug out 15 shots.

The offense was clicking on all cylinders, but the defense for Millersville did its part too. The Marauders held Philadelphia to a .092 attack percentage, blocked a total of six shots and dug out 62 more.

The Marauders stay home for their next two matches, with East Stroudsburg visiting at 7 p.m. on Friday night and Lock Haven coming to Pucillo on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
