Millersville, Pa. –
The Millersville women's volleyball team went 1-1 Saturday afternoon in a tri-match held in Pucillo Gymnasium. The Marauders (6-9, 1-5 PSAC) fell to conference foe Lock Haven, 3-1, but rebounded and defeated Glenville State, 3-0.

Millersville played a tight match with Lock Haven (9-6, 3-3 PSAC) but was ultimately edged by scores of 25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 25-10. Neither club won a set by more than five points until Lock Haven took over in the fourth, limiting the Marauders to a -.040 attack percentage and a season-low 10 points. The last time MU recorded 10 points or lower was during the 2009 season when the Lady Eagles held it to just eight points.

Neither team dictated the first set. Millersville took an early 10-5 lead but Lock Haven responded with nine of the next 12 points. The clubs knotted the score six times throughout the set. Hayley Gribler and Erin Walsh served the Lady Eagles to the win, accumulating six points apiece.

In the second set, Millersville took a quick 13-2 lead. Just like before, Lock Haven buckled down and put up nine of the next 12 points. The Marauders and Lock Haven battled through the next several points, exchanging both kills and errors, but two-straight points at the set's end secured the MU win.

Millersville held the lead throughout the majority of the third set. Lock Haven's first lead didn't come until 22-21 off of a Marauder attack error. A kill and two service aces later, the Lady Eagles locked in the set win and put themselves back on top.

Mary Paul was the only Marauder to post a positive hitting percentage and MU totaled just three kills in the entire fourth set. Lock Haven racked up a .387 attack percentage and 17 kills to earn the match win and take home its first conference win of the year.

Gribler led all scorers with 20 kills. Arlana Rolana registered a game-high six service aces in addition to her 11 digs.

Allison Huss headed the Marauder offense with 13 kills. Jessica Franz boasted 34 assists, along with her five kills and two service aces, and a normally quiet Brittany Lease racked up a season-high nine kills and chipped in 16 digs. Sue Caramanico totaled 20 digs in the match.

Millersville then swept non-conference Glenville State (0-8) later in the evening by scores of 25-12, 25-12, 25-21.

In the first set the Marauders held the Pioneers to a .000 attack percentage and limited them to six total kills. Millersville, on the other hand, tallied 13 kills and a .565 hitting percentage. Four players contributed two or more kills in the set win.

The Marauders continued to control the second set as well, posting a .538 hitting percentage. Glenville State racked up more errors than kills and saw points from only two players. Millersville collected 11 digs and slammed down four service aces to go up 2-0 over the Pioneers.

The third set was Glenville State's time to turn the tables. The squad took the lead over Millersville for the first time all afternoon at 13-12. The clubs saw three more tie scores and lead changes before MU regained momentum.

Despite continuing to battle with the Pioneers, Millersville narrowly pulled away with the win.
Kelsey Gearhart led all scorers with a season-high 11 kills, and Jesse Miller and Devin Fortney each knocked down 6 kills. Lauren Schmickle and Katie Pisano recorded 17 and 14 kills, respectively.

Millersville heads to Lincoln (Pa.) on Wednesday, Sept. 29 for a 7 p.m. match up.
