Erie, Pa. - The Millersville women's tennis team fell to 1-1 on the season after a 9-0 loss to Mercyhurst Saturday afternoon.
Mercyhurst remained unbeaten with the convincing win, improving to 4-0 overall. The Lakers swept the singles matches, dropping only one set. Millersville's Shauna Powers, playing in the No. 4 spot, won the first set of her match against Kelton Macke, 6-4. But Macke powered back with a 6-2 win in the second and 6-4 win in the third.
The Marauders fared no better in doubles. Melissa Plowman and Samantha Prager nearly clipped Kim Ezzo and Caroline Bristol at No. 1 doubles, but the Laker duo won the tiebreaker and the match, 9-8 (7-3).
Millersville travels to Harford Community College on Monday, Sept. 20.
