
Women's Tennis Ends Season With Victory

Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's tennis team closed its 2009-10 season on a high note, defeating Cheyney 9-0 for its first PSAC Eastern Division win.
The Marauders swept four of the eight matches contested. It was the Marauders' first 9-0 victory of the season and just the second in the last two years.
Samantha Prager earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles. Melissa Plowman capped her freshman campaign with a 9-7 record, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Michelle DeStefano swept both sets in the No. 3 spot. Shauna Powers won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, and at No. 5, Katrina Wagner was up 6-0, 3-0 before her opponent retired because of an injury. Amanda Carello notched a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
In doubles action, Prager and Powers teamed for just the third time this year and won 8-0 in the No. 1 slot. Plowman and DeStefano played their first-ever match together and picked up an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. Kelsey Waite and Carello won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Millersville completes its season at 5-10 overall and 1-4 in the PSAC East.
