Men's and Women's Tennis Opens Spring With Losses to Northern Kentucky

Hilton Head, S.C. - The Millersville men's and women's tennis programs opened the spring season Sunday against Northern Kentucky with losses. The men's squad fell by an 8-1 score, and the women were blanked, 9-0.

The women's squad, seeing its first action since Oct. 12, were unable to pick up a point, but the No. 1 doubles team of Andrea Konas and Melissa Plowman won three sets before falling, 8-3. Kaeley McCabe and Shauna Powers at No. 2 doubles also won three sets.

The lone victory on the men's side came from Marty O'Hora and Erik Wright at No. 3 doubles. The tandem topped Lee Lonegran and Jimmy Caccamo, 8-4. Millersville's No. 2 team of Henry Ben and Donald Swantko were edged in a close 8-6 decision.

Wright nearly gave the Marauders a point in a singles, as well. Playing in the No. 5 slot, Wright took Lonegran to a tiebreaker before falling, 3-6, 6-1, 10-7.
