Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville women's volleyball team hosted a tri-match Saturday afternoon in Pucillo Gymnasium and dropped two close matches to Kutztown and Alderson-Broaddus. The Marauders fell to 14-20 overall and 4-13 in the PSAC with the losses.
Millersville defeated Kutztown (19-9, 9-8 PSAC) 25-20 in the first set, but the Golden Bears rallied to win the next three sets, 25-22, 25-16, 25-19. Millersville held a 6-5 edge early in the opener and never conceded the lead. Kutztown narrowed the deficit to as close as 24-20 but the Marauders pulled out the win.
Millersville held a lead over Kutztown for the majority of the second set, including 16-11 advantage at one point. With the score knotted at 19-19, the Golden Bears took off and maintained the lead for the remainder of the set.
In the third set, Kutztown held Millersville to just 16 points and a -.054 attack percentage. The club went up 9-0 to start and never allowed the Marauders to come within more than three scores. The two squads exchanged points throughout fourth-set action, but Kutztown knocked down six unanswered points to extend its lead and secure the match victory.
Allison Huss led all scorers with 13 kills, and 
Mary Paul added 11. 
Jessica Franz totaled a match-high 25 assists for Millersville, while 
Katie Pisano tallied 14. Defensively, 
Katie Galuska recorded a match-high 18 digs, and 
Devin Fortney registered 12.
The hosts matched up with non-conference foe Alderson-Broaddus (19-3) later in the evening and played a hard-fought match that lasted five sets. The Battlers edged Millersville in the first set by a 25-23 score before the Marauders rebounded to win the next set, 27-25. Alderson-Broaddus came back with a 26-24 third set victory, and Millersville countered with a 25-15 win in the fourth. The Battlers locked in the win after a 15-11 fifth set win.
Millersville was held to a .081 attack percentage in the first set but was still able to hang with the Battlers. The Black and Gold saw themselves down 24-20 and battled back to bring the score within one, but an Alderson-Broaddus kill sealed the win for the visitors.
The Battlers notched the lead in the beginning of the second set at 3-2 and never gave up the lead until the Marauders clawed their way back to take a 25-24 edge. Alderson-Broaddus tied it up at 25-25 but a Millersville kill and Battler attack error gave the Marauders the win.
Set three saw 11 tied scores before the clubs went into extra points. With a 24-24 score, Alderson-Broaddus relied on two-straight Millersville errors to nab the win. The Marauders countered in the fourth as the squad took an immediate lead that was never answered. The Battlers were held to a -.029 attack percentage in the loss.
Alderson-Broaddus built an early 10-5 lead in the deciding set and committed only two errors as it went on to secure the match victory.  
Paul paced the Marauder offense with 12 kills, and 
Brittany Lease boasted 11. Franz put up 21 assists and Pisano added 14.
The Marauders host conference opponent Shippensburg for its final home match of the season. Action is slated for 7 p.m.
