Marauders Sweep Felician, Rally to Defeat Georgian Court

Lakewood, N.J. – Competing in its second tri-match of the season, the Millersville women's volleyball team completed a 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Georgian Court. The Marauders swept Felician 3-0 for the second time this season and went on to rally and defeat host Georgian Court 3-2 later in the afternoon.

Millersville (9-10) opened play with the Golden Falcons (2-11) and did not commit any attack errors in the first set, accumulating a .394 attack percentage to earn a 25-10 victory.

In set two, the Marauders held Felician to just six kills and five attack errors while slamming down 15 kills of their own. Millersville won the set, 25-18. The Marauders completed the Golden Falcon blanking with a 25-16 third set win. Felician registered a .135 attack percentage—its highest of the match—but could not overcome the Millersville offense.

Four players tallied five or more kills for the Marauders, and Mary Paul led all scorers with nine. Katie Pisano posted a then season-high 19 assists and Sue Caramanico collected 14 digs.

Millersville faced the host shortly after and quickly fell behind to a 2-0 deficit. Georgian Court committed only one attack error and edged the Marauders in the first set 25-21.

Producing its only negative hitting percentage of the day, Millersville totaled only six kills--half of what the Lions produced--and lost the set by a score of 25-18.

Stepping up on both offense and defense, the Marauders limited Georgian Court to just eight points in the third set. Millersville boasted a .588 attack percentage on 11 kills and one error and won the set 25-8.

The Marauders went on to knot the score at 2-2 after routing the Lions 25-17 in the fourth set. Millersville completed the rally and the day's sweep after limiting Georgian Court to a .077 hitting percentage and handed the club a 15-10 fifth-set defeat.

Allison Huss led a balanced Millersville offense with 12 kills. Alyssa Ott added nine kills and Kelsey Gearhart had seven. Pisano racked up a season-high 21 assists in the match, and Jessica Franz totaled 15.

Caramanico boasted 17 digs and Huss collected 11. Paul put up a season-high six kills and Jesse Miller and Gearhart added four apiece.

Millersville continues road play at Philadelphia on Wednesday, Oct. 6. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
