Millersville, Pa.- The Millersville women's volleyball team hosted the 14th annual Dutch Country Spiketacular Saturday in Pucillo Gymnasium going 2-1, defeating Wilmington and Bowie State.
The Marauders (2-5) swept Wilmington in their first match of the day, earning their first victory of the 2009 season 25-24, 25-21, 25-21. Senior 
Meredith Sinback led the Marauders posting 18 assists and 13 digs in the match, while sophomore 
Allison Huss added 13 kills.
In the second match of the day, Millersville stepped up the defense against St. Rose, taking the match into four games (25-8, 25-17, 25-11, 25-13). Despite tallying 41 kills, the Golden Knights proved too much for the Marauders. Chelsea Tyler had nine blocks total, while Jaclyn Griffin posted 10 kills.
Millersville closed out Bowie State in the final match of the day in under one hour with scores of 25-12, 25-12, 25-11. Freshman 
Megan Sharkey recorded a career high four aces, making only her second appearance of the season.
Huss led the Marauders in kills totaling 25 on the day, and redshirt freshman 
Jill Toronchuk posted 16 kills and 28 digs. Additionally, Sinback recorded 42 assists throughout the day.
St. Rose went on to sweep the tournament, only giving up one set, now sit at a record of 4-0. Millersville, which improved to 2-5, hosts Goldy-Beacom on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. in Pucillo Gymnasium.
