Marauders Sweep Lincoln, Break Losing Streak at Home

Box Score

Millersville, Pa.-
The Millersville women's volleyball team ended a seven match losing streak Tuesday night, sweeping Lincoln 3-0 in its first home match since the beginning of September.

The Marauders (9-13), who were without freshmen Caitlin Forest and Jill Toronchuk, worked as a team to dominate both offensively and defensively. The squad totaled 30 kills to Lincoln's (6-13) 10. Their .229 hitting percentage was the highest since the Sept. 15 match against Cheyney, and guided them to victory with scores of 25-6, 25-16 and 25-13.

In the first set the Marauders allowed themselves only two errors while posting 11 kills and a .474 hitting percentage, their second highest of the season. They held the Lady Lions to negative hitting percentages in all three sets, including -.357 in the first. This is only the third time Millersville has held an opponent to under 10 points in a set this season.

The Marauders forced Lincoln to produce more errors than kills in the second and third sets (8-5 and 8-4) as they cruised to hard-earned success. Nekia Morris was the sole Lady Lion to record a positive attack percentage in the match, while Lia Hubbard had all eight of their assists.

Freshman Susan Caramanico slammed four service aces, leading Millersville to 14 in all, a feat which hasn't been beaten in eight matches. Senior Meredith Sinback tallied a game-high 15 assists, while redshirt freshman Ami Killinger led Millersville with six kills. On the defensive side, the Marauders posted four blocks and 22 digs to end the match in under an hour.

Millersville returns to Pucillo Gymnasium on Friday, Oct. 2 when they will host PSAC East foe East Stroudsburg at 7 p.m.
