West Chester, Pa. - In its first PSAC East action of the season, the Millersville University women's volleyball team swept Cheyney twice in a doubleheader Tuesday evening in West Chester.
In the first match of the night, the Marauders (8-6, 2-0 PSAC East) were led by redshirt freshman
Ami Killinger, who tallied four kills, four assists and a team-high six digs. Senior
Emily Bires posted a team-high six kills in addition to four service aces in the 3-0 victory (25-10, 25-11, 25-6).
Millersville notched a season-high 25 services aces in the opener against the Wolves (0-4, 0-2 PSAC East), including seven from freshman Susan Caramanico. Sophomore
Brittany Lease added a match-high seven assists for the Marauders.
The Wolves didn't fare much better in the second match of the night, falling by scores of 25-7, 25-11 and 25-12. Millersville was led by sophomore
Jill Toronchuk who recorded seven kills.
The Marauders offense proved too much for Cheyney as they tallied 23 service aces and held a 23-4 advantage in kills. Additionally, freshman
Caitlin Forest recorded a team-high six assists and five service aces.
Millersville returns to action on Friday and Saturday in PSAC crossover action against Indiana (Pa.), Slippery Rock, California (Pa.) and Clarion.
