Team Efforts Lift Marauders in Final Day of Tournament

Syracuse, N.Y.- The Millersville women's volleyball team completed its second day at the Le Moyne Tournament by defeating both Post and Dominican 3-0 to conclude the tournament with a 3-1 record.

With the three weekend victories, the Marauders evened their season record at 6-6. The Marauders used a solid team effort to sweep Dominican 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-18) in their first match of the day. Redshirt freshman Ami Killinger posted six kills and a block while senior Meredith Sinback tallied a team-high 14 assists and three service aces.

Additionally, freshman Jill Toronchuk recorded 10 digs and three kills to help lift the Marauders over the Chargers (5-4, 2-0 CCAC). Emily Bires, Allison Huss and Sinback all tallied four kills.

Millersville faced C.W. Post (3-4) in its final match-up on the weekend. Bires, Huss and Amanda Talijan all recorded seven kills in the 3-0 decision (25-12, 25-9, 25-13). Toronchuk tallied another 10 digs and added two service aces.

The Pioneers' Kelly Hayes posted a match-high 14 digs, but Millersville attack was too strong. The Marauders recorded 39 kills and eight service aces as a team.

The Marauders return to action Tuesday, Sept. 15 when they play Cheyney in first conference match-up of the season. The match is slated for 6 p.m. at Cheyney.
