Women's Tennis Rolls Past Chestnut Hill

Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's team earned a 6-3 win over Chestnut Hill in the 2009-10 season opener Sunday at McComsey Tennis Courts.
The Marauders took two of three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches. While the No. 1 team of Andrea Konas and Samantha Prager fell, the No. 2 team of Melissa Plowman and Amanda Carello won 8-3, and Katrina Wagner and Shauna Powers swept Chestnut Hill's No. 3 team, 8-0.
The singles matches were closely contested. Four of them featured at least one tiebreaker and two extended into a super tiebreaker. Prager got the Marauders started by fighting off Erin Anderson, 7-6 (7-5, 6-2. Plowman cruised 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 spot, and Michelle DeStefano won convincingly at No. 5, 8-2. Carello picked up Millersville's sixth and final point, winning 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at No. 6.
Millersville travels to Shippensburg on Sept. 18.
