
West Chester Slips Past Marauders in Five Sets

Millersville, Pa. – In a battle that lasted over two hours and took five sets, the Millersville women's volleyball team was edged by West Chester 3-2 for a conference loss in Pucillo Gymnasium.
As a result of the win, the Golden Rams (23-13, 8-10 PSAC) clinched a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament berth. The visitors took the match by scores of 25-17, 20-25, 24-26, 25-16 and 15-12.
West Chester took the first set by seven points, producing more kills than the Marauders (14-26, 5-13 PSAC) by a 14-9 margin. Millersville, though, made a quick recovery, producing a .256 attack percentage in addition to 16 digs and three block to win the second set and even the match.
Tied 1-1, West Chester took an early lead in the third set, but the Marauders scored eight straight points to take the upper hand. With the score locked at 24, The Marauders delivered kills on consecutive serves to go up 2-1.
The Golden Rams fought back in the fourth set, committing only two errors and posting three blocks, tying the match two sets apiece. The final set scoring went back and forth, with Millersville taking a three point lead early, but West Chester roared back to take the set and the match.
Redshirt freshman Ami Killinger recorded a match high 15 kills, and senior Meredith Sinback tallied a match high 47 assists. Freshman Katie Galuska collected a team high 14 digs, and Millersville totaled eight blocks as a team.
The Marauders conclude their regular season on Saturday, Nov. 7, with a PSAC match-up against Kutztown. The game will also serve as Senior Day for Meredith Sinback and Emily Bires. The match is slated to begin at 12 p.m.
