Pike Creek, Del. – In its final road match of the 2009 season, the Millersville women's volleyball team cruised past Goldey-Beacom by a 3-0 decision.
10 Marauders recorded kills and digs in a combined team effort, sweeping the Lighting by scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-22.
In the first set, Millersville (14-25) held Goldey-Beacom to only five kills and a negative hitting percentage, taking an early lead. The second set was won almost as swiftly, as the Marauders committed only two errors to take a 2-0 command.
The Lightning rallied and kept the third set close, but Millersville came out on top by a three point margin to take the set and the match. Sophomore
Kellie Conahan collected a match high 12 digs and added four kills.
Senior
Meredith Sinback recorded 21 assists, and sophomore
Allison Huss posted a match high eight kills. As a team the Marauders tallied five blocks and 11 service aces.
Millersville returns to conference action on Alumni Night, Nov. 6, when it hosts West Chester in Pucillo Gymnasium. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
