
Volleyball Drops Two Matches at West Chester

West Chester, Pa. - The Millersville women's volleyball team dropped two matches Saturday afternoon, first falling to PSAC East rival West Chester, 3-1, and then coming up just short against Glenville State, 3-2.
In the first set against the Golden Rams (14-11), Millersville (11-21) posted 15 kills, while WCU had only nine. The kill advantage helped MU earn a 25-19 victory in the set. The Golden Rams turned their play up a notch in the second set, making only one error and recording an impressive .433 attack percentage, ultimately taking the set by a score of 25-11 and tying the match.
Despite recording only four errors in the final two sets, West Chester maintained a powerful offensive force to cruise to victory by scores of 25-11 and 25-19. Senior Meredith Sinback collected 26 assists for the Marauders and freshman Kristin Anderson posted a team high 10 kills.
Millersville's second match of the day went to five sets, but the squad fell, 3-2, to Glenville State. The Marauders could only connect for seven kills in the first set, as the Pioneers (9-16) registered a .400 hitting percentage and claimed a 25-15 win.
The second set remained even between the teams, both recording 10 kills and Millersville making only one more error than GSC. The Pioneers, however, turned out a 25-21 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Marauder defense was strong throughout the third set, holding Glenville State to four kills and coming away with a 25-13 win. Millersville controlled the fourth set as well, posting a .394 attack percentage and a 25-15 win to knot the match at two sets apiece.
The Pioneers out-killed the Marauders 12-6 to seal the fifth set, 15-13. Sinback posted 33 assists and redshirt freshman Ami Killinger added 10 kills. Millersville also tallied 10.5 blocks as a team.
Millersville returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 20 when it hosts Shippensburg in a PSAC Eastern Divison contest. Tuesday night is also MU volleyball's Dig Pink Breast Cancer match and it begins at 7 p.m.
