Marauders Rally for Five-Set Victory

Philadelphia, Pa.- The Millersville women's volleyball team broke a five-match losing streak by defeating University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in five sets Wednesday evening on the road.

It was only the second time this season the Marauders played a five set match. The Marauders (11-18) trailed 2-0 heading into the third set, but turned the match around to earn a 3-2 victory by scores of 18-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-14,16-14. Using a balanced team effort, Millersville had 11 players record digs and four with at least one assist.

The Devils (6-9) took the first two sets of the match by tallying 25 kills and committing only 10 errors. Committing only two attack errors, the Marauders took the third set from USP and didn't looked back. Millersville recorded a .250 hitting percentage with fourteen kills in the fourth set win. Seizing the final set by a 16-14 score, the Marauders earned a victory for the first time in two weeks.

Millersville collected eight total blocks and 63 digs. Senior Emily Bires and junior Allison Huss both tallied 13 kills, and senior Meredith Sinback added 25 assists. Freshman Katie Galuska collected 16 digs.

The Marauders remain on the road for PSAC match-ups at Kutztown Friday at 7 p.m., and at West Chester, Saturday at 12 p.m.
