Cheyney , Pa. – Freshman #Allision Huss# served the first 24 points of the match and delivered 16 aces in all to help give head coach Betsy Hayden her first victory in the very tough Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division by a score of 3-0 over Cheyney.
Millersville (4-7, 1-4 PSAC East) made quick work of the Wolves (0-4, 0-4 PSAC East) as they won in straight sets for the second consecutive match. The Marauders won by scores of 25-1, 25-5 and 25-12.
Huss's 16 aces were part of a team total of 39 for the match. Junior setter #Meredith Sinback# registered eight aces while freshman #Lauren Wallick# pitched in with four. Freshman outside hitter Kellie Conahan, sophomore middle hitter Marissa Lewis (Mohrsville/Schuykill Valley ) and freshman setter #Brittany Lease# had three apiece.
Freshman middle hitter #Hannah Duckworth# led the Marauders with six kills while Lease's 12 helpers were a team-best.
After losing six of their first seven matches, the Lady Marauders have responded to win three of their last four.
The team will have a week off before hosting Kutztown next Tuesday, September 30, for a 7 p.m. start.
