Huss delivered a team-high 12 kills

Box Score

Millersville, Pa. –
The Millersville University women's volleyball team, playing in their first game under new head coach Betsy Hayden, nearly forced a fifth and final game of their season-opening match with Shippensburg but back-to-back kills with the score tied at 24 put the game away for the visitors.

After dropping the first two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-17, Millersville responded with a convincing 25-16 victory in game three.  Then, after trailing by as many as four (16-20) in the final game, Millersville used an 8-4 run highlighted by the play of outside hitter #Allison Huss# and #Meredith Sinback# to crawl back into the match.

Millersville was lead by Huss who delivered a team-high 12 kills and also picked up eight digs.  Sinback led the Marauders with 24 assists and pitched in with nine digs.  #Hannah Duckworth# led the team with four blocks.

The loss drops the Marauders to 0-1 in the very tough Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division. Shippensburg improves to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the same division.

The Marauders take the court again this Friday when they take on PSAC East opponent West Chester in the Marauder's annual Dutch Country Spiketacular.  The tournament begins at 2 p.m. with Millersville making their first appearance at 4 p.m.  The tournament will be played at Pucillo gymnasium on the campus of Millersville University.
