Ryan McGovern

Ryan McGovern joined the Millersville University athletic training staff in the summer of the 2019  His primary coverage is with the women’s volleyball, women’s swimming, women’s cross country and baseball programs.

He is a 2014 graduate of Lock Haven University, where he earned a bachelor's of science in athletic training. He graduated in December 2016 from California University of Pennsylvania with a master’s of science in exercise science and health promotion, concentration in sports psychology.

Prior to coming to Millersville University, McGovern was an assistant athletic trainer at Saint Francis University (Pa.) from 2016 to 2019. While at Saint Francis, McGovern had experience working with the Red Flash football, women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, tennis and golf programs. He has completed several internships including with Shippensburg University and Bucknell University. He also volunteered in the summer of 2017 with the Pittsburgh Steelers during their Organizing Training Activities (OTA’s).  McGovern has also volunteered with the Pennsylvania Special Olympics at Saint Francis University and Pennsylvania State University.

He is a board-certified athletic trainer and a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), Eastern Athletic Trainers Society (EATA) and Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society (PATS). McGovern also has his AED, CPR and Standard First Aid certifications through the American Heart Association. Most recently he has obtained his National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)-Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) as well as HawkGrips Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization Level 1 Certification (HGP-I). McGovern is a licensed Athletic Trainer by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine and also holds a license by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners.

He is a native of Hamilton, N.J. and currently resides in Lancaster, Pa.
