Matt Hamilton

Following a successful run as the head coach at Elizabethtown College, Matt Hamilton joined the Millersville University women's volleyball program prior to the 2023 season. He enters his second year with the Marauders in 2024.

Hamilton spent six years at Elizabethtown including three as the head coach of both the women's and men's programs. He quickly proved himself a winner, leading the women's program to a 69-25 record from 2019-22, posting the highest winning percentage of any coach in program history. He led the program to its first Landmark Conference postseason appearance in 2019 and went on to reach the postseason in each of the next two seasons. Hamilton guided the Elizabethtown women's team to three consecutive 20-win seasons and a regional ranking in 2021.

Hamilton helped build the men's program from the ground up as its first season of competition was in 2018. As the program's head coach, he went 29-27 with a win over a nationally-ranked opponent.

Both of Hamilton's programs achieved in the academic arena, consistently earning the USMC/AVAC Team Academic Award.

No stranger to Central Pennsylvania, Hamilton was an all-state selection and member of a PIAA runner-up volleyball team at Central York. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013 and a master's degree in teaching in 2014. During his time at Pittsburgh, Hamilton continued playing for a nationally-ranked club team while beginning his coaching career at area high schools. From 2014-16, he helped the Upper St. Clair girls team to three WPIAL Section 2 titles. While coaching at Elizabethtown, Hamilton also spent four years as a player development specialist for Spooky Nook Volleyball Academy, overseeing more than 130 athletes, running youth camps and clinics and expanding the club with the addition of more teams.Â
