HOW IT HAPPENED

With the first set even at 1-1, the Marauders won the next eight points to build a 9-1 lead. Amanda Protzman served seven straight points in that stretch, including two aces, while Hailey Lazur added two kills from Addison Reustle assists. The Marauders later took seven of the final eight rallies to close out the set, 25-13.

The Marauders turned a 3-1 deficit into a 12-3 lead with an 11-0 run, as Becca Hartranft served 10 straight points and had consecutive aces late in the stretch. Kat Dalessio assisted kills by Nadia Sawyer and Sam White during the run, and 'Ville later won seven of the final eight rallies to close the set, 25-10.

"The team has been improving the last half of the season." said head coach Brian Smith. "I think part of that was just young players getting more comfortable. But also because two of our seniors, Becca and Alex, decided to pretty much take over the heavy lifting with regard to passing. Becca has always been a steady hand but Alex really stepped up her game. There is a lot to look forward to but finishing with 3 wins out of 4 matches was exciting for our seniors and I was happy for them and enjoyed just taking as much of their last weekend as I could. The end of the season is always bittersweet. I know this senior class of Alex, Becca, Samantha and Caitlyn will be successful and make us proud. I wish them much happiness."
