Ritchey named NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week

CONCORD, W.Va. - For his outstanding performance in the PSAC Tournament championship game, Millersville University's Rece Ritchey has been named the NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week.

Ritchey is the first Marauder to win a weekly honor from the NCBWA this season, and he earned the award after pitching a career-high 8 2/3 innings in Saturday's 2-1 win over No. 16 West Chester. Ritchey threw 27 more pitches than he has ever thrown in a game, struck out seven, did not walk a batter and kept West Chester off the board until the top of the ninth.

Ritchey allowed just six hits in the game, and the only run credited to his line was scored after he exited the game. Ritchey improved his record to 5-1 with a 3.00 ERA in 60 innings pitched.

Ritchey and the Marauders host Seton Hill and Charleston for the NCAA Atlantic Regional on Thursday. Seton Hill and Charleston play the first game at 11 a.m., and Millersville plays the loser of game one at 2 p.m.
