LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Millersville men's basketball put the clamps on two opponents last week, putting itself in position to win a share of the PSAC East title on Wednesday at home, and a big reason why was the defensive efforts of Cesar Tchilombo. Tchilombo helped the Marauders to a pair of road wins and was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Millersville held Kutztown to 63 points and Bloomsburg to 54 points while Tchilombo averaged 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in just 25 minutes per game. Tchilombo grabbed nine rebounds, blocked three shots and recorded two steals against Kutztown. He followed that performance with four block shots, 10 rebounds and a steal in just 21 minutes against Bloomsburg.
It is the second time this season that Tchilombo has been named the division's defensive athlete of the week. Tchilombo ranks fourth in the PSAC in blocked shots (1.3) and seventh in rebounding (8.6), leading a team that now ranks second in the PSAC in scoring defense (71.4) and first in field goal percentage defense (.421).
With a 14-6 conference record and one regular season game remaining, the Marauders can clinch a share of the PSAC East with a win over West Chester on Wednesday at Pucillo Gymnasium.
