
Marauders rack up PRs and SBs with two PSAC Marks at Widener Indoor Classic

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Millersville University women's track and field team competed at the Widener Indoor Classic, hosted by the Pride of Widener University, and delivered a strong weekend performance highlighted by multiple top finishes, two new PSAC qualifying marks, and ten personal and season bests.
Sarah Hessler placed fourth in two field events, Ava Wilson earned fourth in the high jump, and Olianna Oravitz secured third in the long jump. The Marauders also recorded two new PSAC marks from Wilson and Shelby Derkosh in the 400-meter.
Millersville faced a competitive field that included Albright, Arcadia, Catholic, Chestnut Hill, Cheyney, Delaware Valley, Dickinson, Drexel, East Stroudsburg, Eastern, Goldey-Beacom, Gwynedd Mercy, Haverford, Johns Hopkins, Kutztown, Lehigh, and others.
Friday Highlights
Hessler competed in both throwing events, finishing fourth in the shot put and weight throw. She posted a throw of 12.80 meters in the shot put, ranking her No. 93 on the NCAA Division II Top 100 list, and recorded 17.20 meters in the weight throw. Chloe Enck also competed in the weight throw, finishing with a mark of 13.49 meters.
Saturday Highlights
The Marauders tallied ten personal and season best throughout the day. Bri Pollock led off with a ninth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run, clocking in at 10:25.38. Emilea Alleman followed with a time of 11:07.12.
In the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries, Katelyn Murphy was the lone Marauder to qualify for the finals with a time of 9.00, while Megan Hechler finished in 9.55. Milan Snell (season best) and Camron Roush competed in the 60-meter dash but did not advance. Murphy went on to place fifth in the 60-meter hurdle finals with an improved time of 8.98.
Olivia Sunderland recorded a personal best of 5:22.19 in the mile, while Breia Mayes crossed in 5:54.33. In the 400-meter, Shelby Derkosh notched a PSAC qualifying mark and season best of 59.33. Mary Weiss followed in 1:02.06, with Miranda Jimenez posting a personal best and Abigail Fisher finishing close behind.
In the 800-meter, Bella Ruefle (personal best), Kira Chebishev, and Lauren Gula finished back-to-back, with Emily Beers crossing in 2:32.34. Derkosh added another season best in the 200-meter (26.98), while Milan Snell finished in 26.17. The 4x400-meter relay team of Weiss, Hechler, Wilson, and Gula posted a season-best time of 4:03.54 to place seventh.
Wilson opened the day's field events with a personal best and PSAC mark of 1.60 meters in the high jump, earning fourth place. Lyndsey Kregel and Braelyn Heim cleared 1.45 meters, with Heim marking a season best. Aubrey Bitner recorded a season-best 3.05 meters in the pole vault.
Oravitz led the Marauders in the long jump with a third-place finish and a mark of 5.42 meters. To close out the meet, Danika Bolinsky and Marissa Hillegas competed in the triple jump, recording marks of 10.28 meters and 10.04 meters, respectively.
"It was our first time at this new facility [The Ott Center in Philadelphia, Pa.] and it ran fast," said Andy Young. "I was excited to see the new PSAC marks for Shelby in the 400-meter and Ava in the high jump."
The Marauders are back in action Feb 20 when they travel to University Park, Pa. for the Penn State Tune-Up before multiple Marauders travel for the PSAC Indoor Championships.
