
Marauders Close Regular Season at Penn State Tune-Up Ahead of PSAC Championships

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Millersville University women's track and field team made its final preparations for the PSAC Championships at the Penn State Tune-Up on Friday night, facing a competitive field ahead of the conference meet set to begin Saturday, Feb. 28. Sarah Hessler grabbed fourth place in two field events and Olivia Sunderland finished fourth in the 3,000-meter event.
The Marauders lined up against several PSAC opponents, including West Chester, California (Pa.), Lock Haven, and Indiana (Pa.), while also competing against Division I and Division III programs such as Penn State, West Virginia, Messiah, Carnegie Mellon, and Gettysburg.
Leading the way in the field events was Sarah Hessler, who turned in two fourth-place finishes. In the weight throw, Hessler placed fourth overall — finishing behind three Division I Penn State competitors — with a mark of 17.24 meters. Chloe Enck added a ninth-place finish in the event with a throw of 13.78 meters. Hessler followed that performance with another fourth-place finish in the shot put, recording a distance of 13.41 meters. Marissa Hillegas also competed in the shot put, throwing 9.35 meters.
On the track, Anna Price (10.02) and Hillegas (10.05) finished back-to-back in the 60-meter preliminaries, while Adyson Haak crossed the line in 8.44. None of the three advanced to the finals in their respective events.
Marissa Mounce posted a 5:36.82 in the mile, while Mary Weiss clocked a 1:01.40 in the 400 meters to place among the top 20. In the 800 meters, Lauren Gula (2:22.78) and Miranda Jimenez (2:23.69) both delivered personal best performances, finishing 11th and 13th, respectively. Jai'Ana Ingram also set a personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 26.52, while Hillegas recorded a 27.68 in the same event.
Closing out the night, Olivia Sunderland secured a fourth-place finish in the 3,000 meters, crossing the line in 10:45.00.
With strong individual performances and multiple personal bests, the Marauders now shift their focus to the PSAC Championships, carrying momentum into the conference meet.
