
T&F delivers standout performances at Bucknell’s Bison Challenge and Multi

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Millersville University women's track and field team competed at the Bison Challenge and Multi, a two-day meet hosted by Bucknell University. Ava Wilson led the Marauders with a second-place finish in the pentathlon, while Katelyn Murphy added a third-place performance in the 60-meter hurdles. Sarah Hessler had another stand-out performance with a second-place finish in the weight throw, also giving her an NCAA mark. Mary Weiss and Shelby Derkosh grabbed second and third in the 500-meter and Millersville's 4x400 meter relay squad grabbed second.
Millersville faced a competitive field that included host Bucknell, Bloomsburg, Bridgeport, Carnegie Mellon, Delaware Valley, DeSales, Eastern, Franklin & Marshall, Garden State TC, Indiana (Pa.), Kutztown, Lebanon Valley, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Messiah, Muhlenberg, Pitt-Johnstown, the Pittsburgh Pharaoh Hounds, Shippensburg, Stevens, and West Chester.
Pentathlon
Three Marauders represented Millersville in the pentathlon, with Ava Wilson, Megan Hechler, and Marissa Hillegas competing. Wilson delivered a standout performance, placing second overall with 1,434 points while recording four personal bests. She opened the competition with a personal best time of 9.65 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish fourth, followed by another personal best and third-place finish in the 800 meters. Wilson added a third place showing in the high jump after clearing 1.53 meters and recorded a personal best mark of 4.79 meters in the long jump. She closed the pentathlon with a personal best throw of 6.79 meters in the shot put.
Hechler finished sixth overall with 1,324 points, highlighted by fifth place finishes in both the 60-meter hurdles (9.70) and the high jump (1.44 meters). She placed fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:34.44, ninth in the long jump (4.44 meters), and 12th in the shot put.
Hillegas totaled 1,061 points, recording a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.44. She also posted a season best performance in the shot put, placing fourth with a mark of 9.65 meters. Hillegas finished 10th in the long jump and 11th in both the 800 meters and high jump.
Friday Events
Friday evening began with the pole vault, where Braelyn Heim and Aubrey Bitner each cleared 2.90 meters. In the 60-meter hurdles, Katelyn Murphy was the lone Marauder to qualify for the finals after placing second in the preliminaries with a time of 8.98 seconds. Victoria Massoom narrowly missed qualifying with a time of 9.50, while Anna Price recorded a personal best of 10.30. Murphy followed up with a strong showing in the finals, finishing third overall in 8.97 seconds.
In the distance medley relay, Millersville's Team A—Kira Chebishev, Emily Beers, Marissa Mounce, and Bri Pollock—finished sixth with a time of 12:55.35, earning a spot on the Division II College Indoor Top 100 list at No. 12. Team B, consisting of Bella Ruefle, Leanne Hodgson, Cora Wentz, and Olivia Sunderland, placed eighth.
In the 200-meter dash, Aasly De Leon, Massoom, Jai'Ana Ingram, Price, and Murphy all ran under 30 seconds, highlighted by Price's personal-best time of 29.10. In distance action, Emma Armstrong recorded a personal best in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:49.64, while Emilea Alleman finished in 19:01.93.
Saturday Events
Saturday's action opened with the long jump, where Olianna Oravitz placed ninth with a mark of 5.01 meters. Ava Ceulers and Camron Roush followed with jumps of 4.72 and 4.71 meters, respectively. In the high jump, Lyndsey Kregel recorded a season-best clearance of 1.49 meters. In the 60-meter preliminaries, Oravitz posted the only qualifying time at 8.06 seconds but was later scratched from the final, while De Leon and Roush finished in 8.30 and 8.66 seconds.
In the one-mile run, Ashley Main, Morgan Klaiss, and Kaeylyn Samaha finished consecutively, while Nadia Frydlewicz, Mary Anna Benko, and Brynne Metz each recorded personal-best performances.
Sarah Hessler continued her strong season in the weight throw, finishing second with a personal-best mark of 17.34 meters, ranking her No. 28 on the Top 100 List, and giving her an NCAA mark, giving her a NCAA qualifying mark.
On the track, Livia Lighty posted a personal-best time of 2:39.87 in the 800 meters. The 500-meter race featured multiple podium finishes, with Mary Weiss placing second in 1:22.78, Shelby Derkosh finishing third in 1:23.98, and Milan Snell taking sixth in 1:25.59. In the 1,000 meters, Lauren Gula placed sixth with a time of 3:16.27, followed by Miranda Jimenez in seventh at 3:16.68. Mayes was the lone Marauder in the 3,000 meters, crossing the line in 11:34.68.
The meet concluded with the 4x400-meter relay, where two Marauder teams competed. Team A—Snell, Weiss, Gula, and Derkosh—finished second with a season-best time of 4:09.14, while Team B—Jimenez, Samaha, Fisher, and Oravitz—posted a time of 4:32.57.

Team is improving and the hope is that when the snow melts and the temps warm up that we can do be a little more specific in our training.
