
Hessler shines as T&F posts multiple PRs at Coach I Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Millersville University women's track and field team competed in its third indoor meet of the season at the Coach I Invitational, hosted by Franklin & Marshall College. The Marauders brought home three first-place finishes, including two standout victories from senior Sarah Hessler in the throw events. The Marauders posted 12 new personal bests across events, including five season-best performances. With her two victories, Hessler now ranks No. 36 in the weight throw and No. 73 in the shot put on the NCAA Division II Top 100 Performance List.
Along with the hosts from F&M, Millersville faced a competitive field that included Alvernia, Arcadia, Catholic, Dickinson, Eastern, Elizabethtown, Georgian Court, Gettysburg, Juniata, Lancaster Bible, Lebanon Valley, Messiah, Muhlenberg, Swarthmore, Thaddeus Stevens, and York (Pa.).
In the 60-meter hurdles, three Marauders advanced to the finals as Katelyn Murphy, Ava Wilson, and Megan Hechler finished first, second, and fourth in the preliminary round. Murphy secured another first-place finish in the final with a time of 9.07, while Wilson followed closely with a personal-best 9.65. Hechler also posted a personal best, finishing sixth. In the 60-meter dash preliminaries, Murphy and Mary Weiss recorded personal best times, though no Marauder advanced to the final. Lauren Gula placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.33, while Miranda Jimenez finished seventh. Milan Snell, Aasly De Leon, Shelby Derkosh, and Jai'Ana Ingram all ran the 200 meters in under 28 seconds, placing all four athletes inside the top 15.
Bri Pollock earned another third-place finish for the Marauders in the mile, with Olivia Sunderland running a personal best to finish sixth. Emilea Alleman and Marissa Mounce also placed inside the top ten. In the 3,000 meters, Kira Chebishev claimed second place with a time of 10:47.20, while Bella Ruefle finished fifth. Morgan Klaiss and Mary Anna Benko each recorded personal-best performances in the event. In the 4x400-meter relay, the Marauders' Team A—Derkosh, Gula, Abigail Fisher, and Brye Wojcik—finished fourth, while Team B—Snell, Weiss, Jimenez, and Ingram—followed closely behind in fifth place.
In the high jump, Lyndsey Kregel recorded a season-best clearance of 1.45 meters to finish eighth. Ava Ceulers and Braelyn Heim placed just below of her, clearing 1.40 meters and 1.35 meters, respectively. Heim also set a personal record in the pole vault with a mark of 2.73 meters. Danika Bolinsky earned a third-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 10.43 meters. In the long jump, Marissa Hillegas and Victoria Massoom each posted season-best marks of 4.89 meters, tying for eighth place with an F&M competitor.
Hessler led the field in the weight throw with a personal-best 17.04 meters, while Chloe Enck followed closely with a fourth-place finish. Hessler capped off her day by outperforming the competition once again in the shot put, recording a season-best throw of 12.78 meters.

Sarah is getting back to form and our hurdlers had a good day too, said head coach Andy Young. Distance was solid. It was a good rust buster for our athletes.
The Marauders are back in action January 30-31 when they travel to Bucknell University for the Bison Open.
