Millersville's Morris makes pro debut with Florence Y'alls

| By:
FLORENCE, Ky. - Sam Morris celebrated his graduation with a road trip into the professional baseball ranks. Starting in Millersville, Pennsylvania, with a brief stop in Florence, Kentucky, Morris arrived in Sauget, Illinois, as part of the Florence Y'alls starting lineup Tuesday night.

Morris became the 25th Marauder to play in a professional baseball game when he jogged to his familiar position in right field in the bottom of the first inning at the Gateway Grizzlies' Arsenal BG Ballpark in front of 1,781 fans. The Y'alls and Grizzlies are members of the Frontier League, an independent professional baseball league that has produced 58 MLB players since its inception in 2000. Former Marauder Thomas Caufield is an active Frontier League player, playing in his third pro season with the Washington Wild Things.

Morris hit eighth in the lineup and recorded his first professional hit as part of the Y'alls' five-run fifth inning. His single to left field brought home two runs. The Y'alls went on to win the game 13-9.

"So proud of this guy! He wanted to play professional baseball as much as anyone I've ever had the privilege to coach," said Millersville head coach Jon Shehan in a post on X.

Ultra-consistent and productive as a Marauder, Morris played in 195 games over four seasons, hitting .333 with a .399 on-base percentage. Morris finished his career eighth in career RBIs and ninth in stolen bases. He helped Millersville to three PSAC East titles, PSAC Championships in 2022 and 2025, and a NCAA Atlantic Regional title in 2023.

The Y'alls season began on May 8 and extends through August for a 96-game season. The Wild Things and Y'alls are slated to play a three-game series in Florence from June 20-22, and the Y'alls visit Washington, Pa., on July 25-27.
