Malecki climbs conference leaderboard at Millersville Invite

| By:
MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — The Marauders showed out for the Millersville Invite at Biemesderfer Stadium, wrapping up its home season with a couple of new PSAC qualifying marks, and a new top performer in the conference in pole vault as well.

NOTABLE RESULTS
  • Megan Malecki had her best performance of the season earlier this week at the Shippensburg Invite, and the senior followed that up by claiming the top rank in the PSAC with her performance today. Malecki cleared a height of 12-2 1/2, enough to move her from second to first place.
  • The Marauders have been searching all season for their first qualifier in the 200-meter dash and finally got their event bid today from Shelby Derkosh. Derkosh became the first Marauder to clock in a time under the PSAC automatic qualifying time, finishing the race in 25.38.
  • Derkosh also helped the Marauders win the 4x100-meter relay, starting for the team with Aubrey Sydnor, Anaya Johnson, and Jillian Sydnor. The Marauders ended with a time of 48.25, nearly beating the team's best mark of the season.
  • Dominating again for Millersville was Katelyn Murphy, picking up another win in the 100-meter hurdles. The sophomore won the final round with a time of 14.75 but qualified with a time of 14.70.
  •  Picking up a new PSAC bid in the 400-meter dash today was Milan Snell. Snell became the fourth Marauder to punch her ticket to the conference meet in the event, clocking in with a time of 58.93.
  • Another meet, another set of leaderboards with Marauders owning the top spots in the throws events. All six throwers that have already qualified for the PSAC Championships hit the provisional marks again in their events, with a trio of new marks as well.
  • In the shot put, Sarah Hessler left with an improved mark of 43-2 1/2 as she won the event. Maddy Downs finished in third place with a distance of 39-5 1/4.
  • In the discus, Hessler and Downs ended with the top two finishes, but Seya Trujillo was able to hit a season-best mark with a distance of 127-9.
  • The same trio also took the top three spots in the Hammer throw, with Downs winning, Trujillo as the runner-up, and Hessler rounding out the group in third place.
  • In the javelin, Mikaela Wolf led the way for 'Ville with a second-place finish behind her new mark of 124-1. Annika Gunderson and Erin Krauss followed her up with third- and fourth-place finishes, respectively.
