Kirby, Marauders place runner-up at Husky Spring Invitational

DANVILLE, Pa. - Charley Kirby finished just one shot behind the leader, and the Millersville women's golf team also finished as runner-up at Thursday's Husky Spring Invitational hosted by Bloomsburg.
Kirby's 3-over 76 was a career-low round. Her day included birdies on the par-4 sixth and seventh holes and the par-5 11th and 18th. She was bested only by Jefferson's Ammala Moua , who shot a 75 with 13 pars. For Kirby, it was her 10th top-10 finish in 13 events this season, and she's placed 11th or better in each of the last nine tournaments.
Millersville finished four shots behind Alvernia and 13 clear of Jefferson. The Marauders placed ahead of seven teams they will see at next weekend's PSAC Championship.
Lex Pfeufer was Millersville's No. 2 finisher, tying for fifth with an 83, but her score did not count toward the team's score. Emma Schotsch, named the PSAC Athlete of the Week earlier in the day, tied for eighth with an 87. Amanda Wolf tied for 10th with an 89, and Ashden Stitt tied for 23rd with a 94.
The Marauders compete in the ESU Invitational on Saturday.
