
Marauders place third at Alvernia Invitational

MOHNTON, Pa. - Led by Charley Kirby and Emma Schotsch's top-10 finishes, the Millersville women's golf team placed third in Alvernia Invitational's eight-team field.
Millersville topped four PSAC opponents, finishing behind only Alvernia and West Chester. West Chester edged the Marauders by nine shots. The Marauders gained ground on the Golden Rams in the second round, posting the day's best round at 343. The difference was Millersville's first-round 345 while West Chester shot 334 and Alvernia posted a 315 in the weather-shortened first round that extended into Tuesday morning.
The finish ended Millersville's streak of consecutive tournament wins at four.
After starting her spring season with back-to-back wins, Kirby posted rounds of 80 and 86 to tie for fourth with West Chester's Cierra Griffith at 22-over. Schotsch finished at 26-over-par and in a three-way tie for seventh.
Amanda Wolf tied for 15th (33-over) in the 39-golfer field. Sabrina Swope (36-over) and Lex Pfeufer tied for 18th.
Alvernia's McKylie Boreman took first place at 13-over, winning by seven shots.
Millersville travels to the Kutztown Invitational at Moselem Springs Golf Club on April 6.
