Edwards’ torrid stretch lands her Athlete of the Week
3/4/2025 2:30:00 PM | Softball
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Marauders' sophomore Angelina Edwards has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's (PSAC) East Division Athlete of the Week after putting up a .579 batting average and a 1.704 on-base plus slugging (OPS) across six games played. She helped Millersville softball land a perfect 6–0 record in those six contests.
Edwards totaled 11 hits and five extra-base hits in 19 at bats, leading to a .579 batting average and a 1.105 slugging percentage. What was most impressive was the sophomore's run production; she drove in 14 runs over those six games and had at least two runs batted in (RBI) in five of the six games. She began the week with a five-hit, five-RBI day in a doubleheader against Chestnut Hill on Feb. 26 and followed that up with three more hits, two walks, and five more RBI at Holy Family on Feb. 28. The power surge began on March 3 against Bloomfield; Edwards blasted two home runs in game one including a three-run bomb in the first inning. She also got it done in the field, handling 23 chances without making an error while splitting time between catcher and the middle infield.
This is the first time the versatile Edwards has been named Athlete of the Week and the Marauders' first since Aleese Angelo earned the honor on March 5 of last season. Millersville looks to make it seven and eight straight victories this afternoon, when it hosts Jefferson at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
