Marauders start outdoor season at Towson Invite

TOWSON, Md. — The Marauders began their outdoor track & field season at the Towson Invitational, with a number of athletes starting the campaign by hitting PSAC marks.
 
NOTABLE RESULTS
  • Sarah Hessler picked up right where she left off with her All-PSAC indoor finish, winning the hammer throw, shot put, and discus. In addition to picking up PSAC qualifying marks in all three events, she also hit the NCAA mark in the hammer throw with a distance of 174-0. Hessler finished with a mark of 42-9 3/4 in the shot put and 144-6 in the discus throw.
  • Maddy Downs and Seya Trujillo also had strong days in the throws events for Millersville. Downs finished second in the discus throw with 133-3, second in the hammer throw with 162-0, and third in the shot put with 40-2, hitting the PSAC mark in all three events. Trujillo ended the day with conference marks in the hammer throw with 160-1 and discus throw with 125-1.
  • Rounding out the throwing events was Erin Krauss in the javelin throw. Krauss took second place at the meet and hit the PSAC mark with a throw of 128-8.
  • Aasly De Leon started her first outdoor season on the right note, finishing the 100-meter dash in seventh place at the Invite with a PSAC qualifying time of 12.24.
  • Katelyn Murphy qualified for the finals in the 100-meter hurdles but did not race, though she ran a time of 14.66 in the preliminary round with clears the PSAC mark.
  • Jillian Sydnor ran the 200-meter dash with the sixth best time in the conference so far, finishing in 26.02.
  • Mary Weiss' time of 1:01.27 in the 400-meter dash is good for the 10th best time in the conference.
  • Cora Heilman finished the 800-meter run in sixth place, ending with a time of 2:21.05 and a conference meet bid. 
  • Breia Mayes took third place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking in with a time of 12:16.11 and hitting the PSAC mark.
  • The Marauders relay teams had good days as well, with the 4x100-meter relay team of De Leon, Heather Lesinski, Chanel Hercules, and Arianna Kouakou finishing with a time of 49.08, the current third best time in the conference. In the 4x400-meter relay, the group of Aubrey and Jillian Sydnor, Miranda Jimenez, and Brye Wojcik ran a 3:58.07 race, the best time in the conference so far.
