WASHINGTON, Pa. - Millersville women's golf continued its run of top finishes Tuesday, placing first at the Vulcan Fire Classic for its fourth consecutive team victory. Charley Kirby took first place on the individual leaderboard for her second consecutive win.
Millersville dominated the 36-hole event at Lone Pines Country Club, topping California (Pa.) by 49 shots. Kirby led the way with rounds of 83 and 82 to edge her teammate Amanda Wolf by four shots. Wolf led by two after the first round after shooting a tournament-best 81, but she closed with an 88 as Kirby moved past her on the leaderboard. Sabrina Swope placed in a tie for third for her first career top-10. She shot an 85 on Monday and closed with an 18-over 90. Senior Emma Schotsch rallied from a first-round 99 with an 86 on Tuesday and tied for 12th. Ashden Stitt rounded out Millersville's top five by placing 15th in the 41-golfer field.
Millersville has now won each event it has played since Oct. 10, 2024. Last season, the Marauders tied a program record for wins in a season, and they are now just one away from tying that record again.
Millersville's next event is the Alvernia Invitational from March 31-April 1.
