Hessler, De Leon, and Hauf stack wins at Coach I Open

LANCASTER, Pa. — In the Marauders first meet of the spring semester, 'Ville took a quick trip across town to the campus of Franklin & Marshall College to compete in the Coach I Open. Sarah Hessler won a pair of events, and the Marauders had a strong showing in the sprints events as well.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
The Marauders head back up to Bucknell University again this season for the Bison Open and Multi. The two-day event starts Friday, Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. in Lewisburg, Pa..
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- For the second straight meet, Hessler was the story of the throws events at the meet, winning the weight throw and shotput. The morning started with weight throw, where Hessler's first throw would be the best one of the field, reaching a mark of 51-9. Later in the day, Hessler's first throw of the final round was her top output, winning with 42-2 1/4.
- In three collegiate meets, Aasly De Leon has already tallied two wins in the 60-meter dash. The freshman captured the event crown with a time of 7.78. The Marauder was joined in the finals by three of her teammates, Jillian Sydnor, Darian Hauf, and Chanel Hercules, who finished fifth, sixth, and seventh, respectively.
- Katelyn Murphy continued her success this season with a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Murphy's time of 9.17 was .06 off her season-best time.
- The Marauders top team in the 4x400-meter relay was comprised of Shelby Derkosh, Arianna Kouakou, Lily LaBure, and De Leon, finishing second at the meet. The squad recorded a time of 4:15.94, the ninth best time in the conference so far.
- Hauf and Megan Malecki were the top two performers again in the pole vault, ending the meet with a first and second place finish. Hauf led the group with a height of 11-10 3/4, and Malecki trailed right behind with 11-5.

- On the team's performance at the meet: "It was a solid outing for team. We got some good work in today and we have a better understanding of what we need to work on as the bigger meets start to come into focus."
