2/1/2025 7:22:00 PM | Women's Indoor Track and Field
LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Bison Open and Multi was a meet that will hold a place in the Millersville and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record book for years, as multiple athletes hit personal records. However, the story of the weekend was none other than Darian Hauf adding another accolade to her resume, breaking the seven-year-old PSAC record in pole vault.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- The two-day event started out with a bang as history was made in the pole vault for the Marauders. Hauf, a conference champion in the event and the current program record holder, cleared a height of 13-2 1/4. The previous record was held by Madeline Marshall of Slippery Rock, set in 2018, and Hauf now joins Sunflower Greene '19 (shotput and weight throw) as Marauders with current PSAC records. Additionally, the senior improved from 19th to t-10th in NCAA Division II.
- Katelyn Murphy has yet to miss a beat this season, constantly being at the top of the field in the 60-meter hurdles and even clearing her own standards this weekend. The sophomore broke her personal record by nearly a quarter of a second, finishing the final round of the event with a time of 9.04. The mark moves Murphy to second in the conference and tied for third in program history.
- A pair of freshmen stood out for Ville' in the 200-meter dash, with Aasly De Leon improving her PSAC mark with a 25.56 finish, and Jillian Sydnor punching her ticket to the conference meet with a time of 25.89. The newcomers stand at fourth and ninth place in the conference, respectively.
- Sarah Hessler continued to dominate the throws events, winning the shot put with 42-7 1/2, and tying for second place in the weight throw with a top mark of 50-5 1/2. Additionally, Maddy Downs hit the qualifying mark for the conference championship in the weight throw with a distance of 48-8.
- Also booking a reservation in Lehigh for the PSAC Championships was Shelby Derkosh in the 400-meter dash. Derkosh recorded a time of 58.88, which stands as the 7th best time in the conference so far.
- The Marauders find themselves in a good spot to qualify for three more events in the PSAC Championships, specifically the pentathlon, 4x400-meter relay, and distance medley relay. Starting in the pentathlon, Sabela Zablackis hit a new personal record with 3,017 points. That number is currently the second best in the PSAC and moves her up to fifth in the program record book.
- The team of Derkosh, Cora Heilman, Mary Weiss, and Lily LaBure put together a time of 4:05.14 in the 4x400-meter relay, slotting them in at fifth in the conference, with the top 12 teams qualifying for the PSAC meet.
- Marissa Mounce, LaBure, Heilman, and Bri Pollock combined for a time of 12:36.39 in the distance medley relay, which is currently the third best time in the PSAC. The top 12 teams at the end of the season qualify for the conference championships.

POSTMEET REACTION FROM HEAD COACH ANDY YOUNG
- Overall thoughts on the team's performance: "We had plenty of new PSAC qualifications with Shelby in the 400-meter, Maddy in the weight throw, and Jillian in the 200-meter. Additionally, Katelyn improved her PSAC mark with a PR in the 60-meter hurdles, and Sabela also set a PR in the pentathlon. Darian setting the new PSAC mark and improving her NCAA mark were some highlights, and I think overall, our team got better this week. We hope to keep building on this week's improvements as we travel to two meets next weekend with higher level competition on Friday's meet in New York City.
