'Ville women's golf starts season with a tie for first

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - Behind third-place finishes from Charley Kirby and Emma Schotsch, the Millersville women's golf team tied for first place at the McDaniel Invitational Saturday evening.
It was the first competitive round of the 2024-25 campaign for the Marauders, and they posted a 47-over score at The Bridges Golf Club, tying with Gettysburg. Millersville and Gettysburg finished well ahead of the rest of the pack, with no team coming closer than 24 strokes. Gettysburg was crowned the winning team on the fifth card tie-breaker.
Kirby and Schotsch carded an 11-over 83, finishing two shots behind Gettysburg's Chloe Barton and Franklin & Marshall's Shuyi Wang. Ashden Stitt posted a career-low 84, topping her previous best by seven shots. Her sixth-place finish also marked her first career top 10. Amanda Wolf produced her 18th career top-10 finish with an 85, finishing eighth.

Millersville travels to Belle Vernon for the two-day Vulcan Invitational on Sept. 16-17.
