'Ville women's golf starts spring with win over Jefferson

JEFFERSONVILLE, Pa. - The Millersville women's golf team started its spring schedule with a five-stroke win over Jefferson in the two-round event.

Marauders finished in spots two, three and four as the team shot scores of 68-over and 62-over at the par-71 Jeffersonville Golf Club. Millersville trailed by four after the first round but Jefferson faded Friday while Millersville improved its score by six shots.

Ashden Stitt and Erica Gerner entered Friday's second round tied for second place, three strokes behind Jefferson's Vivian Chuang. Stitt posted a 16-over 87 Friday to take second while Gerner finished three shots behind, at 30-over for the event. Freshman Olivia Dimaond improved by 12 shots in the second round and climbed to third place. Sabrina Swope rounded out Millersville's counting scores by placing sixth at 39-over.

Millersville next competes in California's Lone Pine Invitational on March 23-24.
