
'Ville women's golf finishes eighth at Vulcan Fire Classic

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Millersville women's golf team improved its score by 21 shots in the second round, but it wasn't enough to move up the leaderboard as the Marauders finished eighth at the two-day Vulcan Fire Classic hosted by California (Pa.).
Round one was a challenge for the Marauders as only one of the five golfers in the lineup broke 90. Ashden Stitt opened with a 15-over 87 and closed with an 86 on Tuesday to finish 14th overall. Erica Gerner slipped eight spots Tuesday into 25th place after rounds of 90 and 94. Sabrina Swope tied for second lowest on the team Tuesday with a 94 and finished 30th. Olivia Diamond made the biggest climb up the leaderboard, moving eight spots with a 21-stroke improvement and finishing 46th.
Gannon won the team trophy with a 75-over team score. Gannon's Chloe Mateo finished first at 13-over, shooting a 75 in round two.
Millersville hosts the Millersville Invitational at Tanglewood Manor Golf Course on April 4.
